Home Sweet Home not for the past eight weeks
hotel
Ok, San Francisco, I love ya. How we’ve enjoyed exploring your sights but now
I AM MORE THAN READY TO GO!
do you sense any anxiety~?~?~?~?~?
I found a bazillion things to keep me busy while Robert’s been working
everything from making quilts
IMG_7595
to entering tons of blog giveaways…
IMG_4890_(Medium) Single-Dad-Laughing-Giveaway
i’ve won nothing :(
So, now that I know I’m actually leaving soon
the excitement is building…about what????? you ask?????
OUR NEW HOME!
IMG_7527
I’m about to bust a gut with anticipation!
In a few days we’ll pick up our new home and head to Kentucky for Christmas!
I know many of you can relate to the first time you put your stuff in the cabinets, hooked up the hoses and filled the frig to capacity. Jim and Dee (Tumbleweed) remember like it was yesterday although they just celebrated their one year anniversary since their adventure began.
So, let’s get this show on the road!
~~~~~~~
Since I have lots of TIME on my hands, I’ve also been making gifts for the hotel office staff again. Here’s an idea shared by Zuzu for candy containers which could be used in many different ways. The staff will be so surprised!
pity party
My little pity party began when I realized I would not see my family this Thanksgiving.
Robert was scheduled to work, Mom and Dad are in Kentucky,
Danielle is in Florida, and Josh is in Missouri with his father’s family.
….I’m in a tiny hotel room in California!  Sigh~
~Cue the spotlight~
Then, like a light from heaven, I saw reality.
A slide show of blessings began to play…
~Forever Friends~
and this is just a sampling of them :)
I also saw the church I was baptized in, beautiful homes I’d lived in, weekend trips to the lake, healthy newborns, miraculous life-savings, quick surgery recoveries, unbelievable sales of homes, friends who call at just the right times, an inspirational blog …sunsets.
I was reminded of times God provided work and necessities,
and times He blessed us with more than we ever dreamed.
Quickly refocusing on my blessings, Robert arrived home sharing that he had Thursday off
Can anyone say, “YAY?”
So I cooked a delightful breakfast for us, then instead of going out for a traditional meal, we devoured our lunch inside our warm, little hotel room. Relaxing, sharing the day together, blended with family phone calls filled our day. In the spirit if giving, I made the hotel employees some personalized candy. They have taken such good care of us and I wanted to show them how much they were appreciated. So, the housekeepers, front office personnel, and maintenance men were thrilled seeing their names on their candy!
So, you see, the party was short and interrupted by Divine intervention and it’s made all the difference.
Happy Thanksgiving to All!
Honor Our Veterans
Veterans Day            November 11
soldiers2
“In honor of current and former servicemen and women, entrance to all of America’s 393 national parks will be free for all visitors on Veterans Day, November 11. Besides the fee waiver, national parks will offer opportunities for visitors to pay tribute to the members of our country’s armed forces. For example, on Veterans Day, the World War II Memorial on the National Mall will host a ceremony to honor all of America’s female veterans of the war as well as a wreath-laying to honor members of the 82nd Airborne Division who died in the conflict. Also in Washington, DC, at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Veterans Day will be observed with speeches, speakers, a color guard and a wreath-laying ceremony, all in honor of all those who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War and America’s other wars, including those in Afghanistan and Iraq.
After sunset on Saturday, November 13, 2010, participants in the evening program at Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Virginia will place a candle at the grave of each of the more than 6,000 soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the Union in the Civil War. This luminary event, held by the staff of Petersburg National Battlefield, will include the music of bagpipes and selected stories of people who laid down their lives for their beliefs. “ *
We honor you, servicemen and women
for serving your country and
providing Americans with FREEDOM,
which we so easily take for granted.
Sincerely we are grateful.
Turn Up The Bluegrass (Oct 5-12)
Traveling from Ashville, NC over the Blue Ridge Parkway opened our eyes to some breathtaking sights, making travel brochures come to life.
We saved the Biltmore Estate for another trip since I wanted to spend a whole day there.
 We experienced many wondrous parts of God’s world during the month of October.
Next stop: Mt. Airy, NC otherwise known as MAYBERRY!
I looked everywhere for Andy, only finding Barney, the squad car, the Diner, and Andy’s barber.
Not Floyd but he had been a barber for 63 years and had cut Andy’s hair. His shop was COVERED in tourist photos.
MAST General Store, Valle Crucis, NC
modeled after the 1800’s general store concept
This will teach me to stay caught up with my blogging! Recalling a month’s worth of travel is not easy, even with my notes!
Blessings Y’all,
Kathy
